Installing Android Player on a new device

The most recent version of Android Player can be downloaded via the following URL https://bit.ly/emguest-android (https://emguest.blob.core.windows.net/android/com.emguest.player.apk). The recommended approach is to install the application from the browser. Note that APK can be saved to an external USB drive as well if the internet connection is slow.

4. USB mouse - recommended

5. (Optional) USB keyboard - for faster typing

Android TV Boxes don't have touch screens. To simulate the back button, use the right button on the mouse.

Installation via browser

The following images illustrate how to install the application on Google Pixel 2 with Android 10. Different vendors might customize their devices and steps might be slightly different, but the guide assumes the differences will be minimal.

Step 1 - Open Chrome and navigate to https://bit.ly/emguest-android.

Step 3 - Open the downloaded file

Step 4 - Change security settings

Step 5 - Allow installing apps through Chrome/browser

After toggling the "Allow from this source" click back on the device or the back arrow in the upper left corner.

Step 6 - Install the application

Once installed, the app can be open.

Step 7 - Log in with credentials

Step 8 - Select Test channel and click the Play button

The device should initiate download of the required asset and, once completed, it will play the playlist.

After verifying that images are shown and videos played, click back on the device (or use the right button on the mouse) to go to the channel select screen (as seen in Step 8). It's time to test the update functionality.

Testing update functionality

Step 1 - Click the Update button on the channel selection screen

Click the Allow button.

Step 2 - Change security settings

Just like in the previous tutorial click on the Settings button to allow installing the update.

Step 3 - Allow installing the update from the app

After toggling the button, click back to go to the previous screen. Click Install to proceed with the installation

The application will close while the update is being installed. Once done, click the Open button.

Back in the application, click the Logout button to go back to the login screen. The device and application are ready to be used.
